09 Feb Empowering the East African Church – the 2018 Lahash Conference
This summer Lahash International will be hosting our 6th East Africa Conference just outside of Nairobi, Kenya. This biannual event features engaging and informative sessions taught by our East African partners, regional professionals, and Lahash staff. Each of the Lahash Partnerships from across East Africa will send several of their team members to join the conference and will receive new tools and strategies for ministry, refreshment, inspiration, and times of worship and prayer.
This year’s conference will feature teachings by Pastor Tom Smith each morning. Tom currently pastors a congregation in the city of Silverton, Oregon and is a Lahash Board Member. Earlier in his ministry career Pastor Tom lived in Kenya with his family and was a missionary in the coastal region.
For many of our East African partners this conference is a highlight of the year. Sister Martha from Arusha shared her gratitude for the experience of our most recent conference:
“For me I really thank God for a good plan which He has for my life and the ministry which He has called me for. When I arrived my heart was broken and I was tired. Through this conference I am renewed. God bless you Lahash for a great ministry. Thank you so much.”
Our goal at Lahash is to empower the church in East Africa to be able to minister more effectively to the people in the community. Sessions this year will include devotions taught by our partners, photography, reproductive health, trinitarian theology, solitude with God, sustainable agriculture, steps for improving a sponsorship program, accounting with Quickbooks, and how to mentor young adults in the community – among others.
Past participants provided glowing feedback on our past conferences. Joyce Robert shared “the teachers have given us light and direction to face the challenges that we face back into our organizations.”
Saggiah Wright then added, “Lahash, God is seriously using you as a great instrument in serving him through serving vulnerable kids in East Africa. May God bless you all. – Thank you.”
Please be in prayer for our team as we develop the conference over the next few months. If you would like to contribute to the costs of the conference we need an additional $6,500 for transportation, housing, lodging, and facilitation costs.
