As a community in 2010, alongside our East African brothers and sisters, God has allowed us all the privilege of caring for the vulnerable. Despite the barriers of oceans, time zones, and different cultures we are trying passionately to be one. Intertwining our lives to live out a new story of good news together. SAUDA’S STORY
In March 2010, Lahash International hosted a month long event of solidarity, simplicity, and sharing called Rice & Beans Month. Sauda is one of the courageous kids in the Lahash sponsorship program who was impacted by the donations from Rice & Beans Month. This is her story.

PORTRAIT OF LIFE: DODOMA, TZ
From Nate Grubbs: "In these "Portrait of Life" segments, I want to show East African life with as little commentary as possible. Letting the images speak for themselves allows the people within them to share their own lives and hope without western statistics and preconceived notions. Life is hard in East Africa, but it is also joyous. In Dodoma, Tanzania, Lahash partners with Grace and Healing Ministry to provide aid for vulnerable kids living in poverty with a majority of the children directly affected or infected with HIV/AIDS."

PORTRAIT OF LIFE: KAMPALA, UG
From Nate Grubbs: "In these "Portrait of Life" segments, I want to show East African life with as little commentary as possible. Letting the images speak for themselves allows the people within them to share their own lives and hope without western statistics and preconceived notions. Life is hard in East Africa, but it is also joyous. KAMPALA HOUSE was formed by Sudanese-born Susan Tabia when she opened her own home up in Kampala to care for the children made vulnerable from the raging Sudanese civil war. Today there are an average of 15-20 children at the home."

Letting the images speak for themselves allows the people within them to share their own lives and hope without western statistics and preconceived notions. Life is hard in East Africa, but it is also joyous. AMAZING GRACE Children's Home in Northern Uganda was formed by Sudanese-born Susan Tabia in response to children made vulnerable from the raging Sudanese civil war. Today there are an average of 25-35 children at the home."
