The Lahash team from Portland (pictured above) will be heading to the conference as well where they will meet up with additional staff and East African partner ministries from Uganda, Tanzania, and Kenya. The week-long conference is focused on strengthening our relationships, uniting our visions, and empowering each other to take our ministries to the next level.

Clark Blakeman, Partnership Development Director for Lahash describes the conference. “We have chosen the theme, Stepping Into Godly Leadership Together. Our aim is to create a collaborative, capacity-building event with partner organizations that our holistically caring for vulnerable children.”

“Our partners on the ground in East Africa give their all each day serving children orphaned by HIV and decades of war,” says Clark. “A week-long conference with these leaders is a chance to be poured into by each other in a lovely setting away from the demands of ministry.”

Both Lahash and our partners have been anticipating this conference since the beginning of the year.

“This spring Lahash conducted a comprehensive survey of our East African partners and asked them about the ways they would like to grow during this next year,” said Dan Holcomb, Executive Director for Lahash. “We then tailor made a 7-day conference filled with helpful sessions on Child Evangelism, Strategic Planning, Resisting Pornography, Godly Leadership, Creating Healthy Habitats, and Mentoring and Discipleship among others. It looks to be an amazing week with some amazing brothers and sisters in Christ.”

Along with the training sessions and workshops, there will also be times of rest, worship, and play to refresh Lahash’s partners as they continue serving extremely vulnerable children in their local communities.

After the conference, the Lahash team will continue on to visit two partner locations in Tanzania to more deeply connect with the leaders and kids there.
