01 Oct Introducing 26Together – Help build a kitchen for the Amazing Grace kids
This last Monday 26 of our Lahash team members in Portland crammed into our office kitchen to make the video below.
We’ve had a request from the Amazing Grace Children’s home in northern Uganda to help build a new kitchen for the 26 kids and staff that live there. And we want to answer that request!
Right now the kids and the cooks prepare meals in a temporary mud structure that we constructed a couple years ago. The kitchen is not secure, has poor ventilation, and forces those preparing the meals to endure hours of backbreaking, smokey work to make the meals for the home.
The town of Adjumani recently told the home that they needed to upgrade the kitchen to continue their ministry of caring for the kids. So we need to get this building built quickly!
This is really an exciting project folks.
Our partners in Uganda are rallying the community to help build the kitchen! The local church is donating food for the workers. Another children’s home is donating produce for the efforts. Some kind Muslim friends in town are sharing bricks. And the kids and staff will be helping build the kitchen.
We’d like to do our part as an international community! We’d like to help raise $13,200 to donate by the end of October. This will allow for a modern kitchen to be built – along with a dining room area and storeroom for produce. It will be a huge gift to the kids and staff!
We’ve created a way that you and your community can get involved in these efforts. It’s called 26Together.
How do you host your own event?
These are the three simple steps you can take to help us reach our goal!
- Assemble: Gather EXACTLY 26 people together (no more and no less) and do something awesome! You can sign up for your own group page at 26Together.com
- Record: Take some video or some pictures of your group holding signs that say “26Together” and “We Love you!” and upload it online.
- Share: You can donate online or send in your groups’ donation to our office.
Will you join us? We need your help to get this done! Head over to 26Together.com to help us build a kitchen!
