Welcome to our new staff member – Krista Ranno!

We are excited to announce the addition of a new team member at Lahash! Krista Ranno will be our new Sponsorship Director working from our Portland office.

Our Sponsorship Program continues to grow and impact the lives of hundreds of kids across East Africa. During the past year, we’ve connected another 86 children with sponsors.

Krista is ready to help take the Sponsorship Program to the next level. She will oversee the expansion of the program, and help to improve sponsor/sponsored child connections, and improve the systems needed to keep the program running smoothly as it grows.

Lahash’s Director, Dan Holcomb, shared his excitement about this new development. “Krista brings a passion for Christ, experience working in both West and East Africa, and a dedication to international partnerships built on promoting dignity and empowerment. She’s a perfect fit for our team.”

Looking back on the past several years, Krista shared about seeing God’s hand preparing her for this role:

My experiences in Cote d’Ivoire and Tanzania have shown me the complexity of international missions and development in Africa. I was initially drawn to Lahash because of their approach to sponsorship: it is context-specific. Lahash seeks to provide holistic care to the children in the Sponsorship Program and does so through partnerships with local churches. When I met the team at Lahash, I immediately trusted the team and felt confident that the work is done with integrity.

Katie Nelson will continue her excellent work with our team, transitioning into the role of Sponsorship Coordinator and working alongside Krista in the years to come. “I’m excited about Krista’s knowledge, her desire to listen and learn in cross-cultural settings, and her experience working for similar ministries on the continent,” Katie said. “We’ve needed extra help in this department to match our growth, and I’m excited that the program can get to a healthier spot with Krista joining the team. I’m excited to continue in this ministry while transitioning to a new role in the department.”

Krista invites friends to join her in thanking God for this new role, which is an answer to her prayers. Pray that as she meditates these next few months on the truth of Christ being “Emmanuel, God with us,” she will be strengthened for the journey ahead when apprehension or discouragement sets in. Krista has already begun raising support, which can be contributed online at her staff donation page.

Krista has high hopes for this next chapter:

My heart is for cross-cultural and global teams and how we, as a Global Church, have an impact on one another. I am looking forward to working with individuals, families, churches, and the Lahash team, locally and globally, to bring about the highest level of care for the children in each of the communities we serve in East Africa.

Join us in celebrating this exciting new development.

Welcome to the team, Krista!
