09 May Genocide, Forgiveness, & the Gospel – a Portland event with Emmanuel Sitaki
On Saturday, the Lahash team will host Pastor Emmanuel Sitaki in Portland, Oregon. Emmanuel is from the nation of Rwanda and will be sharing the powerful story of how he escaped the 1994 genocide, how he forgave his enemies, and how God called him back to the nation to help with the healing and rebuilding process.
You are warmly invited to join us for an evening to hear his story and learn more about the ministry of Lahash in Rwanda.
Genocide, Forgiveness, and the Gospel
May 11th @ 7 PM
Hosted by Trinity Church of Portland – 909 NE 30th Ave, Portland, OR 97232
After Emmanuel shares his story, there will be a time for desserts as well as tea and coffee downstairs.
Lahash Director, Daniel Holcomb, expressed excitement at the opportunity to hear from Emmanuel Sitaki. “Emmanuel has a powerful story to share and I know we all can learn from his faith and testimony. I’ve been personally challenged by the work of God in his life to put into practice Christ’s teachings on forgiveness and to give more of myself to my brothers and sisters who are living around the world.”
Emmanuel is eager to tell his story, “I believe this is the right time for this blessed country of America to take seriously the message I received about forgiveness,” he shares. The event will commemorate 25 years since the Rwandan Genocide. “It is crucial for the world to remember what happened 25 years ago in my homeland of Rwanda.” Emmanuel is convinced that the tragedy and the reconciliation which occurred in Rwanda contain lessons for each of us.
In the past 25 years the nation of Rwanda has undergone a good deal of healing, dialogue, spiritual renewal, and growth. In the last two decades Emmanuel and his ministry team have been diligent in pastoral training, evangelism, and compassionate ministry to vulnerable people. They have a bold vision for the country of Rwanda and it is a privilege to explore ways to partner with their team in the years to come.
We hope to see you on Saturday!
