SHELTERING ARMS MINISTRY
Sheltering Arms Ministry serves some of the most vulnerable children in a rural area of Northern Uganda. This region has been greatly affected by the longstanding war in South Sudan, as many refugees and asylum seekers pass through on their way to safety. Pastor Maku Fabian previously served at a children’s home, where a passion for service was ignited within him. He founded Sheltering Arms Ministry as a response to the needs he saw in his own community. Local leaders gather the children together weekly to ensure they receive discipleship, encouragement, and holistic care. Staff and volunteers visit the children in their homes regularly to assess their needs and provide holistic care resources to help them thrive.
Children in the Sponsorship Program are cared for holistically, meaning that spiritual, physical, educational, and emotional factors are all considered in providing care for each child. The kids are given the opportunity to attend a local school, and Lahash engages in ongoing training and development efforts with the program staff to creatively and compassionately improve the children’s lives.
