ERM-RWANDA

Our ministry partners at ERM-Rwanda have been serving orphans and seeking to rebuild family and community relationships since Pastor Emmanuel Sitaki founded the organization in 1996. The aftermath of the 1994 genocide scarred not only his own family, but every level of Rwandan culture and society. The ramifications of this widespread trauma and loss continue to touch every facet of life today, but so do hope and healing.

Through partnership with Lahash, ERM has been able to expand its outreach to a new generation of vulnerable children who are struggling with poverty, disease, and lack of access to education. ERM staff work directly within the community surrounding the church in order to identify the children most in need of sponsorship and assistance. Through regular home visits and caregiver support groups the staff and volunteers come alongside each child in the context of their living situation, as well as making sure that medical and educational needs are met. Each Saturday all the sponsored children gather together at the ministry center for worship, Bible teaching, activities, games, and a meal.

Children in the Sponsorship Program are cared for holistically, meaning that spiritual, physical, educational, and community factors are all considered in providing care for each child. The kids are given the opportunity to attend a local school, and Lahash engages in ongoing training and development efforts with the program staff to creatively and compassionately improve the children’s lives.
